Private Training

Puppy: First Session (At School)

Day Training: Puppy/Basic Manners

Let one of our experienced trainers work one-on-one with your puppy or dog to help support your basic manners training plan. Owners need not be present during the session.

Dog Socialization Session $100 per classPurchase required to enroll

These one-on-one 30 minute sessions at our school offer safe, controlled exposure to one of our helper dogs with the assistance of one of our professional trainers to coach and guide you.

Group Classes

Prep School

Prep School is a six-week basic manners class designed to help you create a solid foundation of leadership and communication with your teenage or adult dog.

Puppy Kindergarten

Puppy Kindergarten is a six-week group class that covers important foundation behaviors and puppy topics including socialization, grooming and house-training. Prerequisite required

Grad School

Strengthen your dog’s behavior and sharpen your own training skills in this 5-week advanced class with fun exercises and games that incorporate duration, distance and distractions. Prerequisite required

Sidewalk Psychos: Level 1

Sidewalk Psychos is an 8-week group class with an urban focus specifically designed for NYC dogs who bark, lunge or growl at other dogs on leash walks.

Tricks Class: Level 1

Teaching tricks is the perfect way to exercise your dog’s mind and body without a lot of space or a big time commitment. You will learn a repertoire of fun tricks while also helping to build your dog’s confidence. Prerequisite required

Tricks Class: Level 2

Use the building-blocks learned in Tricks Level 1 to teach your dog more advanced behaviors, including chain behaviors, differentiation, and even using an i-pad! Prerequisite required

Calm Canine

Calm Canine is an innovative course for dogs that have difficulty settling at home, or in new environments. This course will help you to learn how to keep your dog’s stress and arousal levels low, and teach them to focus on you even around distractions.

Canine Good Citizen Preparation Course

This class will focus on the 10 required items included in the American Kennel Club’s Canine Good Citizen Test.

Barkour

This course will teach you how to use at home objects to increase your dog’s physical fitness and to build indoor obstacle courses to exercise your dog. Great for rainy days, or small spaces. Prerequisite required

Cooperative Care

Imagine putting your dog’s harness on, taking them to the vet, cutting their nails, giving them a bath, and administering eye/ear drops without any struggle or stress. Sound impossible? We’ll show you how!

Virtual Workshop: Loose Leash Walking Games

Practice fun loose leash walking exercises with instructor guidance and feedback, and be sent “home” with a set of resources that will give you even more ways to turn your dog’s walk into the best part of their day and yours!

Virtual Workshop: Basic Skills for Reactive Dogs

Having your dog bark, lunge or growl on walks can be embarrassing and frustrating! Learn 5 critical skills you'll need to master to help walks with your dog become less stressful.

Virtual Workshop: Impulse Control Games

Humans struggle with impulse control all the time. Imagine how hard it is when you're a dog and no one around you speaks your language! In this workshop we’ll demonstrate how to invite your dog to use polite behaviors to get what they want instead of being rude.

Teach your dog to play games using their amazing sense of smell! These are great activities for dogs young and old alike and a perfect way to help your dog expend mental energy while having fun.

Virtual Workshop: Happy Vet Visits

We often think of veterinary care as a "necessary evil" for our dogs - but some simple training exercises and preparation can make visits to the vet a fun, enriching experience for both you and your dog. Trainers Anna and Em will lead you through training and handling techniques that minimize stress, maximize reinforcement, and just might make the phrase "Want to go to the vet?" set your dog's tail wagging!

Virtual Workshop: Window and Door Barkers

Does your dog bark incessantly when you have a delivery? Or at dogs on the street passing by your parlor window? Learn practical ways to manage the behavior and invaluable techniques to decrease the intensity of your dog’s alert barking.

Are you finding it a challenge to work from home with your dog? This workshop will help you teach your dog the skills needed to be a great co-worker!

Virtual Puppy Kindergarten

Virtual iPaw Course

This class, first developed by co-founder Annie Grossman in 2013, challenges you to engage your dog with something you have on you all the time: Your touch screen device. Learn how you can use an iPad or iPhone to teach your dog new concepts and improve your ability to shape and cue subtle behaviors. Prerequisite required

Virtual Tricks Level 1

Our Prep School course is specifically designed for adult dogs and adolescent dogs over 5 months. Teach and strengthen your dog’s essential basic manners skills while learning to add in challenges such as distance, distraction and duration to foundations.

Virtual Downward Dog

This doggy yoga course is the perfect mix of relaxation, stretch and tricks training! Downward Dog will help you learn tips for keeping your dog’s stress levels low, and also build upon your repertoire of fun new tricks! Prerequisite required

Virtual Tricks Party!

Have you and your dog been practicing your tricks? Would you like to pick up new ones in the new year? Come to this virtual Tricks Party and show us what you got! We'll be playing fun games that will put you and your dog's listening skills to the test. Don't sweat it: We promise you already know how to play!



Drop-Off Training

Day School

​Day School is a four hour weekday drop-off program at our training center designed to instill and maintain basic manners and leash training while you’re at work.

Misfits Day School

Misfits Day School is our specialized drop-off program created for dogs who need some extra help coping with the mean streets of New York City.

Puppy Day School

Puppy Day School is a three hour drop-off program designed exclusively for puppies between 8-20 weeks of age. This program focuses on providing safe, quality socialization experiences and basic training time for your puppy.

Off-Leash Services

Puppy Playtime

Trainer-supervised 30-minute session for puppies who are 8-20 weeks old, designed to help teach puppies how to have appropriate interactions, and to help owners recognize appropriate play.

Tiny Puppy Playtime (Puppies 5 lbs or under)

Trainer-supervised 30-minute session for puppies who are 8-20 weeks old, and weigh no more than 5 pounds. Designed to help teach puppies how to have appropriate interactions, and to help owners recognize appropriate play.

4-Dog School Yard

Trainer supervised playtime for dogs 5 months and up, all sizes welcome. Members only.

Small Dog School Yard (15 lbs and under)

Trainer supervised playtime for dogs 5 months and up, 25 lbs and under. Members only.

Rowdy Teen Yard

Designed for adolescent dogs that want to wrestle and play like puppies. An excellent environment to practice break cues and to learn what appropriate play looks like going into adulthood.

Large Dog Yard

Trainer supervised playtime for dogs 5 months and up, large dogs 30+ pounds. Members only

Join fellow dog-lovers for a fun night of trivia, with prizes, healthy competition, and some mingling with fellow members of the School For The Dogs community. $10 per dog/human team; free for members.
